The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham consolidated its control of key towns along the Iraq border in Deir Izzour. ISIS took over more towns in Aleppo from the Al Nusrah Front, Islamic fighters, and rebels; a shell hit a house in Jarabalus, which is controlled by ISIS. In Ghouta in Reef Dimashq, suspected ISIS gunmen assassinated a dissenting former ISIS judge and his mother. The Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front battled regime forces in Homs, Aleppo, and Reef Dimashq. Islamic fighters also clashed with regime forces in Deraa, Hama, and Idlib. A car bombing blamed on Al Nusrah killed at least 34 people in Horrah village in Hama; another car bomb killed six people in Homs yesterday. The UN Secretary General called for an embargo on the flow of weapons into Syria.
