The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham reportedly told its emir for Jarabalus in Aleppo to step down after he was filmed threatening an elderly man with a gun for lacking knowledge of Islam; ISIS also killed a man near Jarabalus accused of cooperating with Awakening Movements. The Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front battled regime forces in Aleppo, Hama, Deraa, and in Reef Dimashq. In Deir Izzour, ISIS negotiated with Al Nusrah over control of a checkpoint. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a Western-backed battalion killed at least 32 civilians when it shelled the city of Jusr al-Shughour in Idlib.
