A car bombing in Beirut killed four people and wounded 77; a Hezbollah official said the attack took place just meters from the party's political council. Security forces are reportedly taking unprecedented measures after the arrest of Majid al Majid, the leader of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, which has threatened attacks until Hezbollah withdraws from Syria. Iran formally requested that Lebanon interrogate al Majid. Lebanese military forces deployed heavily along the Syrian border near Masharih al-Qaa, al-Qaa, and Ras Baalbek as Syrian forces tried to stem a rebel advance in the area. US officials believe Hezbollah is smuggling advanced guided-missile system components from Syria into Lebanon.
