Regime forces stepped up attacks on rebel-held areas of Damascus following the US-Russian agreement on Syria's chemical weapons; the rebels, disappointed with the recent deal, want the focus shifted to tilting the war in their favor. A recent study by a British defense consultancy estimates that nearly half of the Syrian rebels are now aligned with jihadist or hardline Islamist groups such as the Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Kurdish fighters continued to clash with Al Nusrah, ISIL, and rebel forces in Hasakah. Two suicide bombers detonated in an ambulance parked at Kurdish YPG headquarters in Hima in Hasakah. Regime forces clashed with Al Nusrah and rebel forces in Maaloula in Reef Dimashq; regime forces shelled the outskirts of the town.
