The military claimed to have killed 75 terrorists during a 34-day operation in 28 villages in the Para Chamkani area of the Kurram tribal agency that began on May 11; during the operation, 21 soldiers were killed and 86 wounded, and 15,000 civilians were dislocated. Security officials believe the recent assassination of a high court judge was planned from within Karachi Central Jail by militants associated with the Taliban and the Lashkar-e-Janghvi.
