The Senate panel voted to approve the nomination of John Brennan as CIA head. Hafiz Khan, 77, a Florida imam and US citizen, was found guilty of providing some $50,000 to the Pakistani Taliban. Khan was arrested with two of his sons and three other people in May 2011; charges were dropped against the sons, and the other defendants remain in Pakistan. Khan's defense team had attempted to use Taliban testimony to show credibility of witnesses in Pakistan.
