The military conducted air raids in the al Arish area of the Sinai peninsula against Islamic militants; missiles killed 20 people in the village of Touma. "Terrorists" in the area allegedly fired back at the Egyptian aircraft. President Mursi sacked several top security officials, including Egypt's intelligence chief, the governor of North Sinai province, and the head of the presidential guard.
