An explosion destroyed a home owned by Khyber's Haji Namdar; eight people have been reported killed. Residents in Khyber are flying the flag of Lashkar-e-Islam as the military conducts operations in the tribal agency. A Peshawar police chief said an operation against the Taliban would be launched in parts of the city. The leader of the Jamaat-e-Islam said there is no Taliban threat to Peshawar or within Pakistan. Baitullah Mehsud threatened the prime minister's chief adviser and the chief minister of Sindh province with suicide attacks. Nine government officials were kidnapped in Hangu.
