Coalition forces killed 55 Taliban fighters and wounded 25 during heavy fighting in the Zerok district of Paktika province. Three Taliban leaders are reported to have been killed in the fighting. One Afghan woman and three children were killed in the indirect fire attack from Pakistan. A German general said 6,000 additional troops are needed to secure the country.
