A son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is mediating over two Austrians held by al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and is hopeful they will be freed soon. Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer has also reportedly called Gaddafi himself to help in the affair. A meeting between the kidnappers and the negotiators had taken place in Bou Djeheba, north of Timbuktu, in Mali.
