Coalition and Afghan special operations forces have again targeted an al Qaeda-linked Taliban leader during a raid in Ghazni province. From the International Security Assistance Force press release on the raid; little detail was provided about the Taliban leader:
An Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents and seized multiple weapons and ammunition during an operation to arrest an al-Qaeda associated Taliban leader in Andar district, Ghazni province, today.
The Taliban leader acquires weapons and directs attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout the region.
During the operation, two armed insurgents attacked the security force. The security force returned fire, killing both of the attackers. No civilians were harmed in the exchange.
The raid is the second against an al Qaeda-linked Taliban leader in Ghazni this week, and the fourth in the province in the past month. On Aug. 21, special forces captured another Taliban leader associated with al Qaeda during a raid in the district of Gelan.
