Yemen’s appeal court reduced Jaber Elbanah’s 10-year jail term to five years. Elbanah is wanted by the US for providing material support to Al Qaeda and is believed to have helped recruit the Lackawanna Six. A Yemeni court released Elbanah on bail in February 2008.
The six-man team that attacked the US Embassy on Sept. 17 has links to al Qaeda; three of the men fought in Iraq. Many of the more than 1,200 terrorists charged in Saudi Arabia are from Yemen.
