President Saleh has agreed to a ceasefire with powerful tribal leader Sadiq al-Ahmar after fighting between the two led to more than 120 people killed. An “armed group” has kidnapped three French citizens in Hadramout province.

Twelve people were killed during a clash between Republican Guards forces and tribesmen in Nehm. The Yemeni air force killed 18 tribesmen in airstrikes in Nehm.

President Saleh ordered the arrest of rival rival leader Sheikh Sadiq al- Ahmar and nine of his brothers for fomenting “armed rebellion.” Seventy-two people have been killed in heavy fighting in Sana’a over the past three days.

Government forces loyal to President Saleh attacked the home of tribal leader Sadiq al Ahmar, who has sided with the opposition. The attack sparked heavy fighting in Sana’a, with nine people killed.

The US has urged President Saleh to sign the agreement with the opposition and step down. Yemeni troops shelled tribesmen who have laid siege to a Republican Guards camp outside of Sana’a; one person was killed.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters killed two soldiers and a civilian in an attack in Mukalla in Hadhramout province. The family of Osama bin Laden’s Yemeni widow wants her to be returned home from Pakistan.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters are thought to have killed a Yemeni soldier in Zinjibar in Lahj province. A security official claimed the government would take “drastic steps” to put an end to protests.

The opposition said the GCC-backed plan for president Saleh to step down from power is dead. A court is considering the appeal of two al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula operatives who were convicted of killing Spanish tourists.

Security forces killed three protesters. Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters killed five soldiers in an ambush in Marib. Qatar said it no longer backed the GCC initiative for President Saleh to resign.

Security forces attacked and killed six anti-Saleh protesters in Taiz. Pakistan will repatriate Osama bin Laden’s wife, Aml Ahmed Abdul Al Fatah Al Sadah, to Yemen.
