Over 1,000 rebel troops were responsible for overrunning the African Union peacekeeper Haskanita base. Over 150 AU troops manned the base, 10 were killed, and 20 are still missing as Sudanese troops took up positions to guard the relief effort. Senegal threatened to withdraw its troops from Darfur after the incident.
