Security forces killed 22 Taliban fighters in Arakzai. Ten Pakistanis were wounded by bombings at markets in Karachi and Peshawar. Pakistan will purchase 14 more F-16 fighters from the US.

A US strike in North Waziristan killed four Taliban fighters. Pakistani airstrikes killed 11 Taliban fighters in Arakzai. The Taliban murdered six truck drivers in Hangu and bombed two schools in Khyber and Mohmand. Fifty Taliban fighters surrendered to a jirga in Bajaur.

The Taliban overran a Frontier Corps post in Arakzai and killed five troops, including a senior officer; 21 Taliban fighters were killed in the counterattack. The Punjabi Taliban named Abuzar Khanjari the new leader of the Qari Zafar group. The US will spend $40 million to help build roads in Peshawar and Malakand.

The Pakistani military claimed 82 Taliban fighters have been killed in air and artillery strikes in Arakzai over the past two days. The Taliban killed a tribal elder in Hangu and bombed a girls’ school in Nowshera. The Taliban plotted to kidnap the Jordanian ambassador.

Security forces killed a Taliban commander and two fighters in Swat. Police detained two terrorists behind the October 2009 attack on the World Food Program headquarters in Islamabad. The leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl party said he supports the Afghan Taliban.
