The al Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades called on Sunnis in Lebanon to rise up against Hezbollah and accused the Lebanese Army of cooperating with the Shia terror group. The statement was made by Saleh bin Abdullah al Qaraawi, the group’s military commander, and released on the Internet.

Radical al Qaeda cleric Omar Bakri appointed Hezbollah member of parliament Nawwar Sahili to act as his lawyer for his upcoming retrial. “I urge Hassan Nasrallah to look at the injustice facing Omar Bakri who backs all resistance (movements) against Israel,” Bakri told reporters.

Security forces arrested radical al Qaeda cleric Omar Bakri at his home in Tripoli. Bakri was convicted last week of “belonging to an armed group with the aim of carrying out terrorist acts and plotting to kill Lebanese soldiers.”
