Indian soldiers killed seven terrorists in separate clashes in Kashmir, including four Lashkar-e-Taiba fighters in Kupwara. Indian intelligence said the Pakistani military is sending captive Taliban fighters from Swat to fight in Kashmir.

Terrorists in the southern district of Doda kidnapped three policemen and executed two of them; the other was able to escape. Security forces killed a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander during a raid in the in Khandidar area of Desa.

Three policemen and a women were killed in a bombing that targeted a police bus outside of the central jail in Srinagar. Police believe that an operative named Rehman, a member of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, was behind the attack.

Two terrorists and an Indian Army officer were killed during a clash along the Line of Control in Kashmir. The terrorists were attempting to infiltrate from Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. Two paramilitary troopers, one policeman, and a civilian were wounded in a grenade attack outside a police station in Sopore.

Indian troops killed five terrorists as they attempted to cross the Line of Control in the Gurez region. The fighting took place one day after Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian outposts and killed an Indian soldier.

In Srinagar, two Indian policemen were killed after terrorists launched an attack close to the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, and in a separate incident five police officers and nine civilians were wounded in a grenade attack. Violence in Jammu and Kashmir has fallen to its lowest level since the insurgency began in 1989.

Indian troops killed four terrorists as they attempted to infiltrate across the Line of Control from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. On Aug. 8, three more terrorists were killed as they attempted to infiltrate from the Pakistani zone. Nine infiltration attempts have been foiled since Aug. 1.

Indian security forces killed seven terrorists during multiple clashes in Kashmir and two more in Jammu. A Hizbul Mujahideen commander was reported killed during the fighting in Jammu. Four more insurgents and two soldiers were killed during fighting on Aug. 3.

Two Pakistani soldiers were killed and three more were wounded during the first recorded suicide attack in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The suicide bomber targeted a military convoy in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani Kashmir.

Seventeen terrorists and eight Indian troops, including a major, were killed during five days of fighting in Jammu and Kashmir™s Kupwara district. The army claimed that a large group of heavily armed fighters have been surrounded in the Shamswari forest.
