The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham has taken control of sections of Ramadi and Fallujah. In Ramadi, a large convoy of ISIS fighters has been seen moving through the city.
“Islamist militants” attacked police stations and government buildings in Fallujah, Ramadi, and Tarmiyah to free prisoners and seize weapons. Fighters are in control of areas of Ramadi and Fallujah. In Tarmiyah, four policemen were killed after jihadists assaulted a police headquarters in the city.
Twenty-three Iraqis were killed in violence throughout Iraq over the past 24 hours. Forty Sunni members of parliament resigned in protest after a senior lawmaker was detained in Ramadi. Prime Minister Maliki said he would turn security in Anbar over to the police.
