The Obama administration believes that Iran is feeling the effects of sanctions. A majority of Arabs would support a nuclear-armed Iran, according to a poll. Iran launched four locally-built submarines.

The US Treasury Department added four Iranian Qods Force commanders to its list of terrorists. General Hossein Musavi, the commander of Qods Force’s Ansar Corps, and Colonel Colonel Hasan Mortezavi have “provided financial and material support to the Taliban” in Afghanistan. Two other officials provide support to Hezbollah, Hamas, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Iran claimed to have purchased four S-300 surface-to-air missile systems: two from Belarus and two from an unspecified nation. Belarus rejected the report. China dismissed US concerns that it would not fully comply with sanctions.

China has voiced opposition to the European Union’s unilateral sanctions on Iran. A Canadian court sentenced Mahmoud Yadegari to four years in jail for attempting to smuggle nuclear exports to Iran. An Iranian official claimed the US has laced cigarettes with pig’s blood and nuclear material.

Russia said the European Union’s sanctions against Iran for its nuclear program are “unacceptable.” The foreign ministry spokesman condemned the EU’s sanctions. President Ahmedinejad said the US and Israel “have devised a plot, according to which they seek to launch a psychological war on Iran.”
