Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah called for Arab solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, who are fighting what he called “the third intifada.” Egypt criticised Nasrallah for promoting anarchy in the country.

Colombian police arrested three Middle Eastern men for running a drug ring that funneled cash to Hezbollah and other terrorist groups. Egypt denied that it extended an invitation for Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah to visit the country. Hezbollah denied reports that Nasrallah was poisoned by Israeli agents.

Iran has sent a new Qods Force officer to replace Hezbollah’s top military commander in Lebanon. Mohammad Rida Zahidi, also known as Hassan Mahdawy, has taken over Hezbollah’s operations and coordination with Syria after Imad Mughniyeh was assassinated in Damascus in February 2008. Zahidi is also assigned to set up terror camps in southern Lebanon.
