A government official said that those who “terrorize in Pakistan” are the target of the operation, while a general danced around the issue of the Haqqani Network.
The Pakistani military continues to claim no civilians have been killed in its offensive in North Waziristan. No Haqqani Network or Hafiz Gul Bahadar Group commanders or fighters have been identified as killed or captured.

The military appears to be focused the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan as well as foreign fighters from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and the Turkistan Islamic Party.
Operation Zarb-e-Azb appears to be aimed at the “bad Taliban” and foreign terror groups such as the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. It is unlikely the Haqqani Network or the Hafiz Gul Bahadar Group will be targeted.
A “key” Haqqani Network commander and two “prominent Afghan Taliban commanders” are said to have been killed in the two drone strikes in Pakistan that took place over the past 24 hours.
President Karzai accused Lashkar-e-Taiba and the “intelligence agency of a foreign country” of the June 6 suicide attack that targeted Abdullah Abdullah.
The five Taliban commanders exchanged for Sgt. Bergdahl were all deemed “high” risks to the US and its allies by Joint Task Force Guantanamo. All of them were closely allied with al Qaeda prior to their detention. Two of them have been wanted for war crimes by the UN.
