The US did not trust Pakistan to keep secret the raid to kill al Qaeda’s emir.

Pakistani senators called the US raid that killed bin Laden “a direct assault on Pakistan’s territorial sovereignty.”
Hundreds of people gathered in Quetta to mourn the death of Osama bin Laden. The Pakistani Taliban threatened to attack Pakistan and the US to avenge the death of bin Laden. Four people were killed in an IED attack in Charsadda.
Khalid bin Laden, one of Osama’s younger sons, was among those killed yesterday during the special operations raid that killed Osama in a fortified mansion in an upscale area of Abbottabad in Pakistan. Amal al Sadah, Osama’s Yemeni bride, was wounded.

Bin Laden could not have sheltered in Abbottabad without Pakistani intelligence knowing of his presence.
