Nigeria links Iran to arms shipment
President Ahmadinejad said that Western pressure on Iran’s nuclear program has had no impact. Iran and Venezuela are exploring the possibility of constructing a an alternative passage to the Panama Canal. Tehran was denied a seat on the new UN agency for woman’s rights.
Tehran proposed two dates for resumed nuclear negotiations. Iran will test-fire a domestically-manufactured version of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system. A UN report demonstrated North Korean support for the Syrian, Iranian, and Burmese nuclear programs.
Tehran suggested resuming nuclear talks this month in Turkey. The foreign minister announced that Iran supports the formation of an Asian Union. Iran is turning to China for help in continued development of petroleum reserves.

The US Treasury designated Jundallah, which is also known as the People’s Resistance Movement of Iran, as a terrorist organization. Jundallah has carried out several suicide attacks against the IRGC.
Tehran postponed the trial of three US hikers imprisoned in Iran. Opposition leader Mousavi criticized President Ahmadinejad over energy and food subsidy plans. THe Chinese foreign minister called for a resumption of nuclear talks with Iran.
The Iranian Embassy in Nigeria refused to comment on the recent arms seizure in Lagos. The Russian foreign minister called on Iran to resume nuclear talks. President Ahmadinejad congratulated Rousseff on her presidential election win in Brazil.
Nigerian authorities confirmed that a shipment of weapons seized in Lagos originated from Iran. Israel claimed the weapons were destined for Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Europe has doubled petroleum imports from Iran since 2008, despite UN sanctions.
The EU announced that Iran is ready to resume talks about its nuclear program. General Petraeus called Tehran’s payments to Afghan government “disingenuous.” Singapore agreed to enforce shipping sanctions on Iran.
