Terrorist groups expanding operations in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir: Report


Afghanistan

The US military killed “more than a dozen militants” from the Haqqani Network during airstrikes in Khost province. Afghan police killed 15 Taliban fighters in Baghlan province. A suicide bomber dressed as a woman crossed over the Torkham border from Pakistan and detonated his vest in Nangarhar province, killing two people.


Coalition strikes at Haqqani Network in eastern Afghanistan

Dozens of fighters led by Siraj Haqqani have been killed or captured over the past several days. The US military calls the Haqqanis “one of the most lethal Taliban organizations operating out of Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas.”

Hakeemullah Mehsud of the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir that killed two soldiers. The attack was the first of its kind in that region.

Lashkar-e-Taiba

India has issued arrested warrants for 22 Pakistanis for complicity in the Novemeber 2008 terror assault on Mumbai. Lashkar-e-Taiba leader Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, and senior leaders Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi and Zarar Shah are among those charged. Pakistan has refused to extradite the men as it has no agreements with India.





Baitullah’s rival killed in Dera Ismail Khan

One of Baitullah Mehsud’s followers shot and killed Qari Zainuddin Mehsud in Dera Ismail Khan. Zainuddin had denounced Baitullah and claimed he would fight alongside the military against Baitullah in South Waziristan.
