Security forces and tribesmen killed 28 Taliban fighters in Swat and Dir. Police detained four terrorists in Karachi and Islamabad and another in Lahore. The Taliban killed a policeman in Peshawar and one solider and three women in Mohmand. The Peshawar airport was shut down after a terror threat.

The military claimed 13 Taliban fighters were killed in Swat and Dir. The Taliban killed two policemen in Mardan and another in Peshawar. The military said Jani Khel in Bannu has been cleared. The pending operation against Baitullah Mehsud is called Rah-e-Nijat.
Qari Zia Rahman may have been killed in Bajaur, and Tahir Yuldashev is thought to have been wounded in South Waziristan.
