Security forces clashed with bodyguards while arresting a prominent Sunni member of parliament in Anbar who has been critical of Prime Minister Maliki. Three of the MP’s bodyguards and two siblings, and a soldier were killed during the fighting. A curfew has been imposed in Ramadi.


Yemen

Tribesmen in Dhalia clashed with security forces at government buildings; two people were killed. The fighting took place after 19 people were killed when the military shelled a funeral. Tribesmen in Hadramout province bombed an oil pipeline to the port city of Shahr.


Afghanistan

The Taliban killed three ISAF soldiers in a suicide attack that targeted a convoy in Kabul and killed two civilians in an IED attack in Uruzgan. Security forces captured five Taliban fighters as they were manufacturing suicide vests in Baghlan.



Iraq

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham killed three Awakening fighters in Kirkuk. Security forces captured seven ISIS fighters in Anbar. The US is sending weapons to Iraq to aid in the fight against the ISIS.


Yemen

The US killed two al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters in a drone strike in Hadramout. Yemeni troops killed 15 civilians in an artillery strike at a funeral of a separatist leader in Al Dhalia province.




Yemen

Tribesmen in Hadramout province took control of an oil ministry office after a tribal leader was killed earlier this month. A court upheld the convictions and sentences of six al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters.



Iraq

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham killed 37 Iraqis in attacks that targeted Christians in Baghdad. More than 900 Awakening fighters in Anbar province volunteered to fight alongside the Iraqi military against the ISIS.

Security forces killed seven Taliban fighters during operations in Laghman, Wardak, Kandahar, and Farah provinces. The Taliban killed a policeman in an IED attack in Kunar.

Afghan forces killed 12 Taliban fighters in clashes throughout the country and captured six more who were involved in attacking supply convoys in Kandahar. The Taliban killed an ISAF soldier in an attack in the east.


Yemen

“Gunmen” killed three soldiers and wounded four more in a shooting in Hadramout, and killed a tribal leader in Baydah. Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula said one of its fighters was wrong for attacking a hospital during the assault on the Ministry of Defense.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham killed the commander of the Iraqi Army’s 7th Division, the commander of the 28th Brigade, and 16 officers in a triple suicide attack in Rutbah. The commanders were visiting the town after an operation that targeted the ISIS.

Yesterday, the ISIS killed three soldiers in an IED attack in Akashat in Anbar province. Security forces captured three Al Nusrah Front fighters in Ninewa as they crossed the border from Syria.

In Abu Ghraib, ISIS fighters stormed the home of an Awakening leader, killing him and his family.
