Afghanistan

The Ministry of Defense said that four Afghan soldiers aided the Taliban in the Feb. 23 attack in Kunar that killed 21 soldiers. Security forces killed eight Taliban fighters during operations in Faryab, Ghor, Logar, and Zabul. In his last address to Parliament, President Karzai said that US troops should leave Afghanistan.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham killed 19 people in multiple bombings in Baghdad. A suicide bomber killed four civilians in Tikrit. Security forces killed four ISIS fighters in Fallujah and two “snipers” in Baghdad.

Security forces killed 24 Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham fighters in Anbar province. The ISIS killed a regiment commander in Anbar, three soldiers in Ramadi, two soldiers in Mosul, an intelligence officer and his driver in Baqubah, and four civilians in a car bombing that collapsed a bridge in Rawa.

Yemen

The US killed four al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula operatives in a drone strike in the Wadi Abida area of Al Shabwa district in Marib. The two local al Qaeda leaders, identified as Ebad Mobarak Al Shabwani and Ja’afar Mohammad Jaber Al Shabwani, were killed in the strike.


Afghanistan

The Taliban killed nine civilians in separate attacks in Helmand province. Security forces killed 19 Taliban fighters, including three local commanders, in Farah, and eight more in operations in Kunar, Kunduz, Kandahar, Helmand, and Zabul. Vice President Fahim died of natural causes.

The ISIS killed three soldiers and three policemen two separate suicide attacks in Ramadi, a soldier in Mosul, and a police colonel in Kirkuk.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham killed 42 people in a series of bombings and attacks in Baghdad, Jisr Diyala, Hillah, Iskandariyah, and Mishada. The ISIS also killed three policemen in Mosul, Tikrit, and Khalidiyah. Security forces captured al Qaeda’s emir for Jurf al-Sakar.


Yemen

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula executed a man at dawn today in the city of Al Shajar in Hadramout province. AQAP accused the man of being an “American spy” and displayed his body hanging from a pole at a soccer field. The government is prosecuting an AQAP leader for targeting security personnel.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham killed 16 people, including eight policemen and soldiers, in a series of bombings in Baghdad. An ISIS suicide bomber killed three security personnel in Ramadi. Security forces killed five ISIS fighters in Ramadi and two “terrorists” in Mosul.

The US accidentally killed five Afghan soldiers during an airstrike in Logar province. The Taliban killed two people in a pressure-cooker IED attack in Faryab. Security forces killed two Taliban fighters and detained a “judge” in Sar-i-Pul.


Yemen

The US killed four al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters, including Ali Juraym, a commander who fought in Iraq, in a drone strike an Al Jawf province. AQAP nearly assassinated the commander of the Second Armored Brigade in an attack in Shabwa province.
