Two insurgents were killed in a premature detonation while planting a bomb in Fallujah. Muqtada al Sadr said that Iran refused to turn over Abu Duraa, the “Shiite Zarqawi,” to Iraq.
Tribesmen claimed they killed Yassir al-Shalily, a leader of the Ansar al Shariah, during fighting in Mudiyah. Ansar al Shariah is a front group for al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
The state security court is trying 150 Salafists for their role in an attack on police in Zarqa that wounded 83 officers. The Salafists called for the overthrow of the government and the establishment of an Islamic state.

Fighting broke out in Mogadishu as Shabaab rearguard forces attacked African Union and Somali troops advanced into areas abandoned by Shabaab two days ago. Prime Minister Ali said Somali troops would continue to fight Shabaab outside of Mogadishu.

US troops pulled out of Saydabad in the spring. The Taliban raised their flag in the district shortly afterward.
Shabaab’s spokesman claims the troops withdrew from the capital as part of a tactical move.
Two people were killed and seven more were wounded in three bombings at a sports stadium in Ramadi. Security forces captured seven members of al Qaeda’s Islamic State of Iraq.
Shabaab forces have withdrawn from Mogadishu, spokesman Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage told the Shabaab-run Andalus radio statio. “We have abandoned Mogadishu but we remain in other towns,” Rage said. “We aren’t leaving you, but we have changed our tactics.”
Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb has launched an “indoctrination campaign” along the Mali-Mauritania border. AQIM “has been organizing exhortatory and religious lectures that end with inviting people to engage in holy war” near military barracks in Mali, a local said.
Mali security officials claimed that al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb has abandoned camps in the western area of the country after military operations there. Officials believe AQIM fighters have relocated to the northeastern part of the country that borders with Algeria and Niger.
