Pakistan

The military killed six Taliban fighters in North Waziristan. The Taliban killed two people in a mortar attack in South Waziristan and killed two more in a bombing in Bajaur. The Baluch Liberation Army claimed the bombing that killed 14 people in Quetta.


Afghanistan

The Taliban killed four civilians in Uruzgan and two ISAF soldiers in the south. Security forces killed three Taliban leaders and detained 11 fighters.


Iraq

Prime Minister Maliki said he was prepared to accept most of the demands of the Anbar provincial government. Insurgents killed four civilians in Fallujah. Security forces arrested five insurgents in Wasit.


Yemen

The military killed six al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula fighters during fighting in Zinjibar; two of those killed were Algerian and another was a Saudi. “Gunmen” killed a police officer in Sana’a.


Somalia

The Kenyan military denied Shabaab’s claim that 11 of its troops were killed during fighting near Qooqani. The Kenyan military said only one of its soldiers were killed, while five Shabaab fighters were also killed.


Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula killed Abu Ali al Hakim, a Houthi military commander, in Kataf. AQAP killed Hakim using a “sticky” bomb that was attached to his car.



Nigeria

Four people were killed in a bombing at a mosque in Maiduguri. The Army has accused the al Qaeda linked Boko Haram of carrying out the attack.


Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb

Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb announced the death of Abu Khabbab Abdulhaq al Qamari, a military commander and longtime jihadist. Qamari “participated in numerous large operations that shook the castles of the apostates….”







Pakistan

Security forces killed 12 Taliban fighters in Kurram and two “terrorists” in Dera Ismail Khan. The US urged Pakistan to share the locations of its border posts on the Afghan border to prevent another incident like the one that resulted in the deaths of 24 Pakistani troops in Mohmand.




Afghanistan

Ten tribal elders were among the 20 people killed in yesterday’s suicide attack in Takhar. ISAF killed four Taliban fighters during an airstrike in Nangarhar. The Afghan Army said that commandos are now capable of conducting night raids.


Pakistan

The military killed 15 Taliban fighters in Kurram and Arakzai. Pakistan has kept NATO’s supply lines closed for one month.


Iraq

A suicide bomber killed seven Iraqi policemen during an attack outside the Interior Ministry. The government and the UN signed an agreement to close Camp Ashraf.


Yemen

Protesters in Taiz are calling for the government to expel the US ambassador. The US is considering allowing President Saleh to travel to the US for medical treatment.


Somalia

One person was killed during fighting between Somali and Shabaab forces in Mogadishu. Helicopters launched attacks on the island of Kudhaa. Shabaab arrested 14 businessmen in Beledweyne for displaying non-Islamic signs.



Pakistan

A Taliban suicide bomber killed seven soldiers during an attack on a base in Bannu. The Taliban bombed a school in Landikotal.


Iraq

An Iraqi Army officer was killed in an IED attack in Shirgat. Iraqi forces captured a “finance minister” of al Qaeda’s Islamic State of Iraq.


Kenya

Police arrested two suspected Shabaab fighters in Mombasa and four more in Nairobi. The fighters are suspected of planning to carry out attacks in the two cities on Christmas Day.



Pakistan

The Taliban killed a soldier and captured 15 more after overrunning a fort in Tank. The Taliban confirmed that a commander, Taj Gul Mehsud, was killed in a US drone strike in October. The military rejected ISAF’s findings on the Mohmand incident.


Afghanistan

The US has completed the withdrawal of 10,000 troops from Afghanistan. The Taliban killed three civilians in Kandahar. Two Taliban fighters and an Afghan policeman were killed in fighting in Jawzjan and Zabul.


Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

Yemeni officials claimed that Abdul Rahman Wuhayshi, the brother of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s emir, was killed yesterday in a US drone strike. His death has not been confirmed by AQAP.
