The Islamic State (formerly ISIS) took over Albu Kamal and clashed with the Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front in Deir Izzour near Al Shhih, said to be the home town of Al Nusrah’s emir; battled the Islamic Front and Jaysh al Islam in eastern Ghouta in Reef Dimashq; and was attacked by regime airstrikes in Raqqah and Hasakah. Al Nusrah and the Islamic Front were attacked by regime airstrikes in Deraa, clashed with regime forces in Aleppo, and battled regime forces near Mleha in Reef Dimashq. The Islamic Front also clashed with regime forces in Latakia; in Homs; in Hama near the military airport and Morek; and in Idlib, where Jund al Aqsa continued to launch mortars into Idlib city. Nine rebel groups, including the Islamic Front and the Majlis Shura al Mujahideen (MSM) in Deir Izzor, denounced the IS’ declaration of its caliphate.
