President Biya fired two senior army officers in the north after the July 27 Boko Haram attacks in Kolofata in which at least six people were killed and the wife of a deputy minister and the mayor and his family were kidnapped. Some witnesses claimed as many as 50 people were killed in the July 27 attacks, which were carried out by a group of over 200 Boko Haram fighters. The government has deployed over 1,000 soldiers to the Nigerian border as the terror group is increasing its attacks in Cameroon.
