On the one-year anniversary of the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi, Muslim Brotherhood supporters staged protests in Cairo, Alexandria, Asiut, Suez, Aswan, and Giza, as well as in Fayoum and several other provinces. Bombings were reported in Cairo, Asiut, Giza, and Alexandria. Security forces made 157 violence-related arrests, in Cairo, Alexandria, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Damietta, Fayoum, Minya, and Asiut. Three Morsi supporters were fined and sentenced to prison for setting fire to the Heliopolis tramway last year. Fugitive Muslim Brotherhood supporter Ahmed al Mogheer urged that Egyptian military forces be attacked “without pity.”
