The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham renamed itself the Islamic State. The IS released 15 of 140 detained Kurdish students. In Deir Izzour, the IS clashed with the Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front in Albu Kamal, and killed Al Nusrah’s military emir for Deir Izzour city; regime forces targeted the IS in Al Bsiri, and clashed with the Islamic Front near Al Hweqa. In Hasakah, Kurdish YPG fighters targeted two IS vehicles. In Reef Dimashq, the IS battled the Islamic Front’s Jaysh al Islam in eastern Ghouta; and Al Nusrah, the Islamic Front, and Jaysh al Islam clashed with regime forces in Al Mleha. In Raqqah, regime airstrikes targeted the IS in Raqqah city, and the IS arrested several people in the city, including a woman. In Aleppo, the IS publicly executed and crucified eight rebels for joining “Awakening Movements,” and crucified another man for eight hours; the IS battled the Islamic Front; and Al Nusrah and the Islamic Front clashed with regime forces near Al Sheik Najjar. The Islamic Front also battled regime forces in Hama; Quneitra; Homs; Deraa; and Idlib, where it was joined by Al Nusrah.
