Nigeria

US surveillance planes and commercial satellites are being used to help find a large group of girls kidnapped by Boko Haram. The Nigerian government indicated it is open to talks with the kidnappers. Nigerian authorities arrested five suspects in the Boko Haram bombings of Nyanya motor park, and said two alleged masterminds, Rufai Tsiga and Aminu Ogwuche, are wanted. President Jonathan asked that the state of emergency in Yobe, Adamawa, and Borno be extended for six months. A jihadist research center called on Boko Haram to release the kidnapped girls.
