In Raqqah, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham killed two rebel commanders, blew up a reservoir, and battled Islamic and Kurdish YPG fighters. ISIS’ H’isbah detachment issued new rules for Raqqah. A car bomb exploded near an ISIS checkpoint in Deir Izzour. Kurdish YPG forces attacked ISIS in Hasakah. Rebel and Islamic Front fighters clashed with ISIS in Hama. Ajnad al Sham carried out a suicide bombing against regime forces in Reef Dimashq. The Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front and other groups continued to battle regime forces in Latakia, Reef Dimashq, and Aleppo. The Islamic Front also clashed with regime forces in Idlib, and in Deraa, where Islamic fighters tunneled under a checkpoint and blew it up. The SOHR estimated that 6,000 people, including about 600 civilians, have been killed in clashes between ISIS on one side and Al Nusrah, the Islamic Front, and rebel groups on the other, since Jan. 1. Lakhdar Brahimi, the UN and Arab League mediator for Syria, will resign on May 30.
