A car bomb exploded near the Bab al Salama border crossing, controlled by the Islamic Front; the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham is suspected in the attack, which killed 43 people and injured over 80. Two UK journalists who had been beaten and shot by rebels were freed by the Islamic Front and entered Turkey. The Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic Front battled regime forces in Hama; Deir Izzour; Latakia; Reef Dimashq; in Idlib, where an Al Nusrah suicide bomber detonated near a checkpoint in Khan Shekhon and a bomb killed Al Nusrah fighters at their office in Kefranbel; and in Aleppo, where Islamic and rebel fighters have reportedly agreed to a prisoner swap with regime forces. The Islamic Front also clashed with regime forces in Damascus; and in Deraa, where it blew up the Al Jaydor checkpoint after announcing a joint Islamic and rebel offensive. Yesterday the Islamic Front blew up a regime base in Wadi Deif in Idlib, after digging an 850-meter tunnel under the base and filling it with 60 tons of explosives. ISIS flogged a man and detonated a shrine in Raqqah, where ISIS was targeted by regime airstrikes; and clashed with Kurdish YPG forces in Hasakah. Five aid workers kidnapped by an armed group in January have been released.
