Iraq

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham killed six women and a child in Baladruz, and four policemen and two soldiers in Ramadi. The military killed seven ISIS fighters near Ramadi and a “terrorist” in Ninewa. The UN estimated that 704 Iraqis were killed in February.

A suspected Boko Haram attack in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, has killed as many as 65 people and wounded many more. Former Guantanamo detainee Moazzam Begg, 45, and Gerrie Tahari, a 44-year-old woman, pled not guilty to charges of providing terrorism training and funding terrorism overseas, and were remanded in custody. Egypt

Authorities arrested three people on suspicion of forming a terror cell in Sharkiya. The government swore in a new cabinet. The army spokesman said operations in North Sinai resulted in the death of 10 militants and arrest of 11 others. The son of former president Mohammed Morsi was arrested over drug charges.


Palestinian Territories

A Salafi cleric was attacked by unidentified gunmen in the Gaza Strip. At least three Palestinian militants were injured during a training exercise in the Rafah area. A senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad official called for more kidnappings of Israeli soldiers.



China

Authorities said a group of knife-wielding “terrorists” stormed the Kunming train station in Yunnan province last night, killing at least 28 people and injuring 113 more. The attack was described as “organized” and “premeditated,” but the perpetrators, who were said to be dressed mainly in black, have not yet been named.
