A group calling itself the “al Nusrah Front in Lebanon” opened a Twitter account on Dec. 24, and published a report of a joint operation by the group and the Marwan Hadid Brigades against Hezbollah “strongholds” in Hermel. Lebanon’s Grand Mufti called on Muslim officials to “save Islam from the aggression of some Muslims against Christian nuns and bishops.” The Greek Orthodox Patriarch urged the world to take action over the kidnapping two archbishops, a number of Syrian nuns, and other innocent people. A military prosecutor has charged Mohammad al-Err and Salah Allaedine, two supporters of fugitive Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmad Assir, with crimes against the state and forming an armed gang.
