Trial began in Abu Dhabi for 20 Egyptians and 10 Emiratis accused of trying to establish a UAE branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Prosecutors allege that a number of the defendants are members of al Isla, an Emirati group said to be a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The defendants deny the charges against them and claim to have been tortured while in detention.
