A UN report said torture has become widespread in Libyan jails since the Gaddafi regime was overthrown, and that 27 people have died from such torture; over 8,000 people are being held without trial in Libya. Unknown assailants killed three Benghazi security officials in separate incidents on Sept. 29. Two days before, armed men kidnapped a journalist and murdered his brother in Zintan.
