The Assad regime reached an agreement “effective immediately” to allow UN inspectors to investigate the site of an alleged chemical weapons attack in Damascus. The information minister warned that US military intervention in Syria would “create … a ball of fire that will inflame the Middle East.” Some 400 tons of arms sent by Gulf countries for the rebels are being distributed to several Islamist brigades across the north. In Aleppo, Al Nusrah Front forces reportedly stormed houses of Kurdish civilians, and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is holding Kurdish officials hostage. The Al Nusrah Front vowed revenge on Alawite villages for the recent alleged chemical attack in Damascus. State media said the governor of Hama was assassinated by a car bomb.
