Jundallah claimed credit for a suicide assault that killed four ISID personnel, including the group’s deputy director in Sukkur. The mutilated bodies of 21 “militants” were found in Khyber. Nine Taliban fighters and two security personnel were killed in Logar. The Taliban killed four people in bombings in Kunduz and Jawzjan, and captured 12 policemen in Zabul; the incident was facilitated by an insider.



Iraq

Al Qaeda fighters executed 14 Shia truck drivers at a fake checkpoint near Sulaiman Pak. The bodies of four policemen kidnapped in Badoush have been found. Security forces captured five al Qaeda fighters in Habbaniyah. The government offered an $86,000 reward for al Qaeda’s war minister.


Israel

Israeli media revealed that in 2008 authorities tried to capture former Hamas military chief Ahmed Jabari but failed. Jabari was killed in an airstrike by the IAF in November 2012 at the start of Operation Pillar of Defense. Hamas shut down the offices of Al Arabiya and Ma’an News Agency after they allegedly published ‘false news’ that was critical of Hamas. Palestinian officials said they will engage in talks with Israel only if it confirms its intention to release a number of Palestinian prisoners.

The UN said the Syrian conflict has now claimed over 100,000 lives, and US Secretary of State Kerry said there is no military solution to the conflict. Somalia

One person was killed in a car bombing that targeted a politician in Mogadishu. The government executed two Shabaab fighters convicted of assassinating the Mufti of Puntland. Shabaab continues to claim it assassinated the CIA’s chief of operations in East Africa.


Libya

The Interior Ministry confirmed that Tuesday’s mortar attack in Tripoli had targeted the Corinthia hotel; in the first admission that it has begun to obtain intelligence on terrorist activities, the ministry said it was warned a few days before that some sites were being targeted. United States

President Obama decided to suspend the delivery of four fighter jets to Egypt. The Pentagon will proceed with planned joint military exercises in Egypt, however. The US is asking Russia for clarification on the status of NSA leaker Edward Snowden, who is said to be likely to soon receive temporary asylum in Russia.


Canada

Chiheb Esseghaier, who along with Raed Jaser is being tried in Canada for the Via rail terror plot, wants sealed evidence in the case to be made public except for that on “private life inside the home.” Some of the sealed information deals with witness identities and wiretaps.


Indonesia

Members of the Detachment 88 antiterrorism squad ambushed four militants in Tulungagung in East Java province, killing two who fired at security forces and detaining the other two. The suspects were allegedly linked to terrorism activities in Java, Poso, Bali, and north Sumatra.


Thailand

Two teachers were killed and three other people were injured by a roadside bomb detonated by militants in Narathiwat. Among the more than 5,000 people killed since the start of an Islamic insurgency in southern Thailand in 2004 are over 150 teachers.


Afghanistan

The military claimed that 35 Taliban fighters were killed during an offensive in the northern province of Faryab. The Taliban killed three civilians in an IED attack in Badghis.

Al Qaeda killed 14 people in attacks throughout Iraq; nine policemen were killed in an assault on a police headquarters outside of Mosul. Security forces captured an al Qaeda leader in Kirkuk and five fighters in Salahuddin.

Qatar’s ambassador to the Syrian National Coalition said the country’s new ruler, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who took over last month after his father abdicated, plans to continue the policy of supporting the Syrian opposition.
