At least seven were killed in clashes between security forces and supporters of former president Morsi. Unidentified gunmen fired on a police station in Sheikh Zuwayed in the Sinai. A mayor in the Sinai warned that the area is becoming “another Afghanistan.” The Muslim Brotherhood said it would reject any cabinet positions offered to it. The foreign ministry denounced remarks by Turkish president Erdogan that he viewed Morsi still as Egypt’s president. The army seized 19 Grad rockets that were said to be headed for the Cairo area from Suez. An army camp in the Sinai was targeted by assailants with machine guns and rockets.
