A test of the long-range missile interceptor system failed today; the last successful intercept by the system, which has had a 50% test success rate, was in 2008. In March the Pentagon announced plans to add 14 more interceptors to the system at a cost of $1 billion. The investment is intended to show the US’s intention to deter aggression from North Korea.
