The Friends of Syria group pledged to “provide urgently all the necessary materiel and equipment to the opposition on the ground.” The group is comprised of Britain, France, the US, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Egypt. US Secretary of State Kerry said the US is coordinating with the Syrian National Coalition and the Supreme Military Council. Two of the 11 Friends countries did not agree to provide arms through the Supreme Military Council. Qatar has been supplying arms from Libya to rebel forces in Syria, where they can be acquired by extremist groups.
