Manhunt continues for suspected terrorist in Paris soldier stabbing



Afghanistan

Afghan officials said that 15 Taliban fighters were killed during fighting in Farah. Coalition and Afghan forces killed 19 Taliban fighters in eastern Afghanistan. The Taliban gunned down a member of Logar’s High Peace Council.


Iran

State media claimed that Iran has fielded a “massive” quantity of missile launchers that will allow the Iranian military to “crush the enemy” with simultaneous fire from long-range surface-to-surface missiles. The claim could not be independently verified.


Iraq

Insurgents killed eight Iraqis in attacks throughout the country. Among those killed were four civilians and a policeman in Baghdad, two Iraqi soldiers in Haditha, and another soldier in Fallujah.


Lebanon

Lebanese Hezbollah leader Nasrallah confirmed that Hezbollah was fighting in Syria, and vowed to continue the fight. Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula killed a captain who commanded the Special Security Forces in Hadramout. The AQAP fighters gunned down the captain from a motorbike with a silenced weapon.


Somalia

Shabaab claimed it killed eight Kenyan soldiers and captured two more during a raid in Dhamajale. Heavy fighting was reported between Shabaab and government forces south of Dhobley.





Afghan intelligence thwarts major attack against Kandahar City

Following weeks of surveillance work, Afghan intelligence officials intercepted an explosives-laden tractor late on May 25, effectively preventing a massive Taliban terror attack against Kandahar City. Tractors have been widely employed by insurgents as a means of transporting explosives and for vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices.


Kenya

The head of Kenya’s antiterrorism police said Woolwich murder suspect Michael Adebolajo was arrested with five other men near the Somalian border in 2010 who were trying to train and fight with Shabaab.
