Armed gunmen in three cars attacked a police vehicle that was transferring prisoners from central Tripoli to Tajoura. The attackers, who managed to escape, seriously wounded two guards, killed one prisoner, and took another prisoner away with them.

Sanda Ould Bouamama, a former Timbuktu spokesman for Ansar Dine, said he intended to surrender to Algerian authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar. He is seeking extradition to Mauritania.

Malian forces arrested 12 terrorists in Djebok on April 16, including a MUJAO explosives expert. The FBI released photos and video of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings, believed to be at large. No suspects have been arrested. The FBI appealed to the public for help in identifying the two men.

A suicide bomber killed 26 Iraqis in an attack at a cafe in Baghdad. Insurgents assassinated the top judge of Fallujah’s criminal court. Two al Qaeda fighters died while planting a bomb in Baghdad. Security forces detained nine al Qaeda fighters in Mosul.

The UAE arrested seven Arab nationals who were helping al Qaeda plan attacks on the country. Israel indicts more Palestinian terror cells

Over the past week, Israeli authorities have submitted indictments against a number of Palestinians involved in terror activities. In addition, the Shin Bet has revealed that another terrorist released in the Gilad Shalit exchange has returned to terror activities.


Tunisia

Salafists stormed a female student hostel in Tunis to stop a performance of music and dance. The extremists threw stones and bottles at the young women and broke windows; the police were present and did not intervene. The Interior Ministry had no comment on the incident.
