Pakistan

“Militants” killed four Pakistani soldiers in an IED attack in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan. Three Taliban fighters were killed and four security personnel were wounded in a clash in Arakzai. Three more Taliban fighters were captured in Darra Adam Khel.


Afghanistan

The Taliban killed six policemen in Ghazni, and a suicide bomber killed three civilians in Paktika. Security forces killed two “insurgents” while hunting for an Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan leader in Balkh. Fifty-nine schoolgirls were poisoned in Takhar. The Taliban also mutilated two security guards in Herat.



Charges against Boston Marathon bombing suspect delayed



Palestinian Territories

Hamas is planning to ask the European Union to delist it as a terrorist organization. Secretary of State Kerry called on Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan to delay his visit to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. Hamas denounced Kerry’s request. Qatar announced it will donate $11 million to help the construction of law courts in Gaza.


Egypt

Justice Minister Ahmed Mekky announced his resignation. Mohamed al Zawahiri, the brother of al Qaeda emir Ayman al Zawahiri, warned of a Coptic “triumph” in Egypt and expressed ideological sympathy for Salafi jihadist groups in the Sinai. Authorities claimed to have uncovered a network of spies working with Israel’s Mossad in the Sinai.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said Israel will “exact a price” against those behind the recent rocket attack on Eilat from the Sinai.
