The Houthis in northern Yemen threatened to retaliate against the US if it conducts more drone strikes in the north. Yemen Liquid Natural Gas is setting up watchtowers in an effort to curb bombings of the gas lines to the Balhaf terminal.



Syria

Rebels launched an assault on the strategic airbase of Taftanaz in northern Syria in an attempt to disrupt strikes by government aircraft and helicopters on rebel-held areas. The Al Nusrah Front, an al Qaeda-associated group, participated in the attack.

Two suicide bombers attacked a Mogadishu restaurant frequented by Somali expatriates. The attackers opened fire on security guards, killing one, before detonating their explosives. Somalia said Uganda’s threatened withdrawal from the AMISOM force poses risk at a “critical moment.”



Anti-Taliban commander assassinated in Buner
