Alleged Mumbai plotter confirms Pakistan involved: India

The defense rested in the case of Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, a 22-year-old Saudi student accused of preparing to bomb US targets, including the home of former President George W. Bush. Somalia

Somali and African Union forces took control of Balad as Shabaab fighters abandoned the district without a fight. Shabaab forces controlled Balad for three years before retreating. Combined forces are setting their sights on Jowhar next.


Uganda

Police arrested five Pakistanis in an area where militants from the Shabaab-linked Allied Democratic Forces have been based. The suspects, who are thought to have ties to militants, had entered Uganda in the Ntoroko district, which borders the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Indian authorities arrested Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari, one of the Pakistan-based handlers of the Lashkar-e-Taiba assault team that conducted the 2008 Mumbai attacks. After a three-year manhunt, Ansari, a.k.a. Abu Hamza and Abu Jindal, was found in Saudi Arabia, where he was recruiting for new attacks.
